Propellerhead (Redrum)+ TouchOSC + iPad

A great video showing one of the applications of the iPad for music production. Despite some of the flack that the iPad has picked up – even being compared to an oversize iPhone (without the phone) – at the very least the implications for electronic music are pretty impressive. As of now, a similar touchscreen interface, Jazzmutant’s Lemur, retails for around $2,000. The iPad is much less, and has the possibility of being much more open.

Already applications like the Korg iElectribe are demonstrating the value of the iPad as a musical tool, and with controller apps like TouchOSC the ability to customize interfaces could become much more affordable, and accessible.

Is an iPad worth it as a dedicated controller?
